[The Olive Tree House is] simple and stunning …
This minuscule summer house has attracted more awards than it can fit!
I was amazed at a number of great works that I saw in the category of first building by a young architect […] Greece’s architecture is full of hope for a bright future. […] I could feel the new sensitivity especially with the use of materials and lights. […]
Furthermore – it is probably because of the climate of Greece – I saw and was convinced of by a number of projects where relationship between interior and exterior became the origin of their architecture. This is when you get to feel the outside air while being inside the building, or your body senses the continuity between the interior and exterior even from being outside the building.
Two of the three prize winning works are very notable essays on the theme of ‘minimum’ housing […] which gives them, as they support a ‘lost’ carefree way of life, largely lived alongside rather than within them, an almost poetic air.
